Abstract Experiments

Emma recently gave me an old mixed-media drawing block that I've been using to experiment and get more acquainted with my paints. I like using cheap supplies so I don't feel like I wasted precious paper when the painting turns out boring.

Whenever I just play with my paints like this, I feel like I'm not doing hard enough work but in reality, this is probably one of the things I most need to do right now: develop a feeling for how the water moves on the paper, how the colors mix, how they overlap. Even how they come out of the pan, how much water my brush holds, how clean I have to get it before going into the next pan without polluting everything are things that I don't feel very confident with yet.
