Bargue Update
I've been doing most of my Bargue practice on a smaller scale in A5 sketchbooks but now that I'm all set up in the new flat, I've started doing them in larger too. Before we moved, I had a few plates printed on A3. Since the plates in the book have large margins and I cropped in to just the drawing itself, it's more than doubled in size.
I've also been doing most of my recent Bargues with pencil rather than charcoal. It's easier to control and erase and I wanted to remove as much complexity as I could. Eventually, I want to go include some charcoal drawings in my practice again too and find a balance between the two.
The drawing at the top feels like a big step forward. The drawing is a little blotchy but the proportions look pretty good to me. I'm going to do the horse head next which looks more challenging because the values are much more gradated.
